Vacancy: intern (f/m), martial arts sector, higher professional education or university level

The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (VA, the Dutch Martial Arts Authority) has room for an intern in the final phase of his or her studies at higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO) level. You will be supervised in a hands-on internship in the period from September 2024 to January 2025. Because the VA is closely involved in building up the recently established Nederlandse Vechtsportbond (NVB, the Dutch Martial Arts Federation), part of your internship will also be spent with that organisation.

What do we offer?
The VA and the NVB are compact organisations dealing with kickboxing, muaythai and MMA in the Netherlands. The NVB is the official sports federation, the VA is the external regulator. We work from Amsterdam. You will get the chance to really immerse yourself in martial arts in the Netherlands, from the gym around the corner to the largest international promotions. The VA will introduce and supervise you. Through us you will come into contact not only with sports organisations, but also with municipalities, the police, doctors, safety experts and other partners involved in regulating events and gyms. We provide an internship position for the period from September 2024 to January 2025, on average three to four days per week. The exact duration and scope can be agreed in consultation.

What do we ask of you?
Commitment and curiosity. It helps if you write fluently and well. Because the VA and the NVB are small organisations, everyone lends a hand where needed. That may mean helping out with all kinds of tasks that come our way. For example scheduling and preparing meetings, writing up records of conversations, or answering questions from users of our instruments, such as the Fightpassport and the Keurmerk Vechtsportautoriteit (the VA quality mark). Our sports are mainly practised in the evenings and at weekends, so you do not mind working outside office hours now and then. In addition, you are able to work well independently.

We expect an eager-to-learn, open attitude from you as an intern. An affinity with sport, and martial arts in particular, is a requirement. The level is the final phase of higher professional education or university studies, in relevant fields such as Sport, Management & Entrepreneurship, Sports Marketing, Human Movement Sciences, Social Sciences, Marketing and Communication.
