Quality Mark
Good combat sports schools like to see the rotten apples disappear from the sector. Municipalities want to know who they are dealing with. The Dutch Combat Sports Authority (Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit, or VA) makes this possible with it’s widely recognised quality mark Keurmerk Vechtsportautoriteit.
The application button is at the bottom of this page, but first read the manual on this page! (In Dutch.) For example, on page 3 you can see exactly what you need to be able to submit the application. This prevents hassle and saves you time.
The Keurmerk Vechtsportautoriteit is an initiative of the Dutch Combat Sports Authority. It is supported by the Ministry of Health, Well-being and Sports, NOC*NSF Centre for Save Sports, and all sports associations involved in kickboxing, Thai boxing and MMA in the Netherlands.
It was conceived and created with the help of gym owners and municipal experts. The animation on this page briefly explains what it is. (In Dutch.)
Dutch combat sports schools that participate in competitions can apply for the quality mark since 2021. (Foreign schools need not apply, they are exempt.) First read our manual! On page 3 you can read which documents you need. For example, a trainer’s license and the policy of the liability insurance. It also explains how you can pay the contribution towards the costs. For example, a trainer’s license and the policy of the liability insurance. The application takes approximately 45 minutes. You will receive the assessment of the application within four weeks.
If everything turns out to be correct after the application, the combat sports school will receive the quality mark. This consists of a poster, a window/door sticker and banners for the website. The gym is also added to the overview of martial arts schools with the quality mark, in the map below. The quality mark holders can then be visited by auditors. They then come to see whether the practice matches the information from the application.
Read our manual before you apply! You can read exactly which documents you need on page 3. This prevents hassle and saves you time.
The quality mark is valid for two years. A re-examination can be requested after two years. A new assessment will then take place in order to be able to extend the Keurmerk Vechtsportautoriteit. If the conditions at a gym deteriorate, the quality mark can be withdrawn. If the quality mark is not extended, logically the possibility to participate in competitions in the Netherlands will also lapse. So don’t wait too long to apply for an extension!
You can request a re-inspection from 8 weeks before the expiry of your current Quality Mark. You will find a separate button below for the re-examination.
Read the special manual for the re-inspection here.
Part of the application is the submission of a Certificate of Good Conduct.
