VA organises meeting for ringside physicians to share knowledge

Ringside physicians (ringartsen) play a key role in combat sports. They safeguard the health of athletes at and around bouts. The Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Combat Sports Authority) is organising a meeting for all physicians working in and around the ring or cage. The main aim: exchanging knowledge.

On the evening of Wednesday 16 November, the ringside physicians will gather in Breukelen. They will share experiences and learn about best practices. Various guest speakers will address topics such as Basic Life Support, the upcoming annual medical examination for fighters, weight cutting, the pre- and post-fight check, neurology and the liability of ringside physicians. The speakers are Hakim Benali, Ed van Wijk, Soeresh Bhatoe, Jessica Gal, Niels Wijne and Lot Verburgh.
