First pilot with the digital fight record book 'Fightpassport' of the Vechtsportautoriteit

The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (VA, the Dutch combat sports regulator) has carried out a first pilot with the digital fight record book, known as the 'Fightpassport'. Over the past months the VA has worked hard on the Fightpassport in cooperation with REM Automatisering. The Fightpassport is a single, uniform digital system that serves as the fight record book for all kickboxers, muaythai boxers and MMA practitioners.

All organisations (federations) that sanction events in the Netherlands will use this system, providing a clear overview of the history and current status, including in medical terms, of every competing fighter. The aim of the uniform digital fight record book is to improve the safety and health of combat sports athletes. The Fightpassport will, for example, prevent athletes who are barred from competing by one federation or organisation (because they have been knocked out or suspended for disciplinary reasons, for instance) from entering the ring at another federation or organisation. Matchmaking can also be better substantiated, as all the necessary information is stored in the digital system. The new system of course takes account of the different access rights per user, as well as of the new, stricter privacy legislation that will be introduced this year.

The Fightpassport was tested in practice for the first time by the VA last Saturday at the Road2Victory event in Hoogwoud, sanctioned by the Sectie Ringcontactsporten FOG (Ring Contact Sports Section of the FOG). The Vechtsportautoriteit looks back on a successful first pilot with the Fightpassport. In the coming weeks the VA will carry out further practical pilots with the Fightpassport during events. This will allow any teething problems in the system to be resolved as far as possible. The intention is that all parties involved will eventually work in a uniform manner using this software. As soon as we have a final version, we will invite all those directly involved to an information meeting.
