Farid Gamei has been appointed manager of the office of the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (the Dutch Combat Sports Authority). He will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the VA.

The board has every confidence that Gamei will develop the Vechtsportautoriteit into the regulator and guardian of quality that we all have in mind. He has already built up considerable experience in the world of sport. He graduated from the Hogeschool van Amsterdam (Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences), programme in Sport, Management and Entrepreneurship. Since 2015 he has worked at the Johan Cruyff Foundation as an account manager. Before that he was a neighbourhood sports coordinator in Amsterdam East for five years.

Farid Gamei is no stranger to the combat sports world. He was a combat sports instructor at Kimekai Gym and for Topscore Amsterdam, a municipal sports programme. He still gives group and private lessons at Eastbound Gym in Amsterdam. He himself was an active A-class kickboxer for many years, and with some success: he won several titles in the weight class up to 65 kg.
