Vacancy intern (f/m) law (higher professional education or university level)

The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Martial Arts Authority) is looking for an enthusiastic intern (f/m) for a practice-oriented legal internship. You will make an important contribution to the work of the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit.

What do we offer?
We are a compact, young organisation with a pioneering role in regulating the full contact martial arts kickboxing, Thai boxing and MMA in the Netherlands. We are an independent regulator, established by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (ministerie van VWS). We mainly work from home. You will get the chance to really familiarise yourself with the martial arts organisations in the Netherlands, from the gym around the corner to the largest international promotions such as Glory and UFC. We can introduce you to them and guide you. From your legal background, you will work on important aspects within our sports, such as disciplinary law, association law, anti-doping policy and tackling transgressive behaviour and match-fixing. In doing so, you will work with, among others, a highly experienced criminal defence lawyer who is also a member of the board of the Vechtsportautoriteit. Through us you will get to know not only the martial arts organisations, but also municipal authorities and other national (sports) organisations. We offer an internship for the period September 2021 to February 2022, on average three to four days a week. The exact duration and scope can be agreed in consultation.

What do we ask of you?
Commitment, interest and above all enjoyment. Ultimately, that also determines the quality of your work. In addition, you should have an affinity with (martial arts) sport. It helps if you write fluently and well. You must be willing to help us with all kinds of tasks that come our way and yours during your internship, for example attending and scheduling meetings. You are flexible and do not mind being called upon in the evening or at the weekend now and then. You are also able to work independently. Above all, you must want to learn a lot. We expect a curious, open attitude from you as an intern. Your level is at least the final phase of higher professional education (HBO) or university (WO), studying law or a comparable legal programme.
