Disciplinary committee members reflect on cases handled

The disciplinary committee (tuchtcommissie) that has been active for combat sports since late 2022 has found its footing. That was the conclusion of its members during last weekend's annual evaluation.
The disciplinary committee was introduced 2.5 years ago to strengthen disciplinary law (tuchtrecht) in combat sports. As a result, athletes, coaches, officials and others involved are better protected against misconduct.
The members are mainly lawyers with a passion for combat sports, who volunteer to handle submitted cases properly. Last week they met in Rotterdam to exchange experiences. They looked back on a number of cases that were handled over the past year, to see whether any points for improvement could be identified. On the whole, there was satisfaction with the way the hearings had proceeded and with the committee's working methods.
After a number of engaging substantive discussions, the day concluded with a joint visit to a kickboxing gala.
