Meet… Amina Driouichi

1 min read

This month the office of the VA (Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit, the Dutch Martial Arts Authority) has been strengthened with Amina Driouichi. ‘Being able to combine my two passions here is ideal.’

Amina is currently working on her graduation thesis for her law degree in Utrecht. For her, the programme is more than just preparation for professional practice; themes such as justice and injustice fascinate her greatly. That is why, in her free time, she also enjoys reading about law and about the philosophies underlying our ideas on the subject.

Recently, however, an increasing share of that free time has been taken up by another passion: kickboxing. What began as a sporting hobby has grown into a serious pursuit. She now trains almost daily in preparation for her first bout.

For someone who likes to delve into law and is also active in martial arts, a graduation internship at the Vechtsportautoriteit is of course a perfect fit. It pleases me to see two worlds come together, and to be able to contribute here from my legal expertise. I will determine my exact thesis topic shortly in consultation with my study programme and the VA, but I will probably focus on legal issues within martial arts events. I am very much looking forward to speaking with promoters and other parties involved in the sector, among others.’
