Instructive conference on transgressive behaviour

Centrum Veilige Sport Nederland (the Dutch centre for safe sport) recently organised the conference Over de Grens (Crossing the Line), about preventing and addressing transgressive behaviour in sport. The Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Martial Arts Authority) was also present to listen and learn.
Under the guidance of conference chair Marijn de Vries, the conference looked at other countries and sectors. What can we learn from them, and how do we translate those insights into our own sports practice?
Experiences were shared by people from the film and theatre world, where issues similar to those in sport often arise. For example, regarding the line between discomfort and a lack of safety, and the line between necessary and unnecessary physical contact.
Another prominent topic during the day was the integrity centre for sport that is currently being developed. Centrum Veilige Sport Nederland will become part of it.
In ten breakout sessions, participants discussed topics such as doping, digital boundaries, behavioural change, discrimination and elite sport. The workshops were given by experts and people with lived experience, allowing participants to end the day with new insights and perspectives.
