Annual report: 2024 a year of transition

For the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (the Dutch Martial Arts Authority), 2024 became a year of transition, VA chair Herbert Dekkers concludes in his introduction to the annual report.
In the absence of a central federation, the VA took on tasks for many years that do not in fact belong with a regulator. The Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport (ministerie van VWS), the national sports umbrella organisation NOC*NSF and, not least, the sector itself asked us to do so. We took up this task without additional resources. It was always clear, however, that this had to be temporary.
For example, the VA developed a single digital registration system for everyone in the sector, the Fightpassport. This replaced the tangle of paper competition booklets that federations issued independently, each containing only part of the relevant information. The Fightpassport provides an overview, but competition registration of course belongs with a federation. That is why, in December, the VA proudly transferred this creation to the NVB (Nederlandse Vechtsportbond, the Dutch martial arts federation).
