Introduction of the guideline for combat sports events

Since autumn 2017, the Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch combat sports authority) has made the guideline for combat sports events publicly available. The purpose of this guideline is to improve and safeguard the quality of combat sports galas, among other things by making clear agreements between municipalities and the combat sports sector.
It is best for all parties if municipalities and the sector take the same view on this matter, with safety, health, a sound pedagogical climate and quality as core principles. The guideline serves both as a checklist for event organisers (promoters, federations) and as an assessment framework for municipalities within their permit policy. We therefore advise all municipalities to include this guideline and the accompanying information in their local policy, so that a municipality grants an event permit if the applicant meets the guideline.
The guideline was drawn up in consultation with NOC*NSF (Dutch Olympic Committee and Dutch Sports Federation), combat sports federations, the Association of Netherlands Municipalities (VNG), the Association for Sport and Municipalities (VSG), promoters and municipalities.
