Digital Fightpassport now mandatory

As of 2019, everyone taking part in kickboxing, Thai boxing or MMA bouts in the Netherlands must hold a digital Fightpassport. This also applies to fighters from abroad. Since 2019, all federations have been working hard to register fighters in the digital system. **UPDATE** In October 2019 the registration procedure changed. Based on the first experiences, it was decided that fighters will from now on register THEMSELVES. This therefore no longer takes place through the federations.

More than 5,600 competitive fighters have now been registered. Even so, the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Combat Sports Authority) has learned that there are still fighters who knowingly and deliberately have not (yet) registered. Registration in the digital Fightpassport serves the interest of a safe, healthy and regulated sport, and therefore the interest of every fighter.

From now on, the VA will monitor more strictly whether fighters are in fact registered in the digital Fightpassport. Gym owners, trainers and fighters who do not cooperate will be excluded from bouts. The VA will also carry out audits on this in order to check compliance in practice.

Fighters are required to show identification at the weigh-in, so that the digital registration can be verified in person. Every fighter registered for the Fightpassport automatically receives a VA number, which also serves as the fighter's username for logging in to the system. Fighters must have this VA number available at all times. The number must be submitted when a fighter is entered for a bout.

Fighters can register at fightpassport.nl. The VA once again explicitly emphasises that the fighter's details must be entered correctly at registration, exactly as stated on the fighter's identity document. In view of privacy legislation, the fighter must enter their OWN personal email address. A general email address of a gym or management is therefore not sufficient.
