Digital Fightpassport 2019

The time has come: the uniform digital competition record book, one of the main measures in the regulation plan, is ready for use. The year 2018 was still a test and training year in which the federations became familiar with the digital Fightpassport and the system behind it. The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Combat Sports Authority) has been able to make good use of these first experiences.

The sector is ready to put the uniform digital competition record book into actual use. From January 2019 onwards, all federations are required to apply the Fightpassport. The Fightpassport is a digital system in an online cloud that will be actively used by the federations and the ringside physicians.

In addition, fighters themselves will also receive login details for the digital system so that they can view their current status and record. The digital Fightpassport of course takes full account of the new privacy legislation that came into force on 25 May 2018.

In connection with the Fightpassport, all federations will also apply one joint disciplinary code, so that suspensions are handled consistently as well. The Fightpassport will make it easier to assess whether two fighters are evenly matched and whether fighters are medically fit to fight. In the current situation there is unfortunately no single, consistent overview of a fighter's current status. The combat sports sector has recognised this problem for some time. The most common consequences are inexperienced fighters competing against experienced fighters, and fighters entering the ring shortly after having been knocked out at an event of another federation. The new uniform and generally applicable system prevents this. If a fighter's Fightpassport is green, he or she may fight; if the Fightpassport is red, the fighter may not enter the ring.
