Visitor conditions for combat sports events support promoters

At the request of promoters, the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Combat Sports Authority) has drawn up conduct conditions for combat sports events. These help promoters to organise bouts properly and safely.

The document ‘Visitor Conditions for Combat Sports Events‘ states, in essence, that visitors to combat sports events must behave properly. The promoter and the Vechtsportautoriteit can take measures if someone misbehaves.

Shortly, everyone entering a combat sports event, for example as a paying spectator or as a guest, will have to agree to these conditions. Clear agreements about what is and is not acceptable contribute to a pleasant and safe sporting experience for everyone. Athletes, coaches, officials and licence holders are already bound by rules of conduct through other channels, but until now spectators were only bound by the general house rules of the venue where the event takes place.

Promoters are given an instrument that helps the event run smoothly. They no longer have to draw up conditions themselves. They can also demonstrate to the municipality that clear rules are in place, along with consequences if the conditions are breached. This contributes to municipalities’ confidence in the combat sports sector.
