Sportinnovator backs Nextround project

The knowledge centre Sportinnovator will support the Nextround project. The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (VA, the Dutch martial arts authority) also plays an active role in it. The aim is to help more young talent develop through new inventions.
The Nextround project, which is supported by the VA and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU University Amsterdam), centres on the development of a punchbag that measures the impact of punches and kicks. The resulting data makes it possible to train talents more precisely in techniques, and is used to examine how children can keep training in our sports with lasting enjoyment.
Sportinnovator is a government initiative. It brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, government bodies and sports organisations. In this way, technical and social innovations are developed that contribute to elite sport, grassroots sport and an active lifestyle.
Nextround also pays explicit attention to allowing children to train safely. This objective is in line with the objectives of the VA. For this reason, the VA supports this project. In doing so, it mainly contributes the VA network and the practical knowledge of its constituency.
