Join the VA Audit Team

The auditors of the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (VA, the Dutch Martial Arts Authority) visit martial arts events and martial arts gyms. Among other things, they assess quality and safety. We want to expand this team of around thirty volunteers. We are looking for independent martial arts enthusiasts with relevant professional experience who can be deployed for this work.

The current group of auditors includes staff from inspection services, sports entrepreneurs, safety experts, accountants and lawyers. Working in varying pairs, they visit martial arts gyms and martial arts galas.

The auditors assess events and gyms on the basis of fixed criteria, or in technical terms: a validated inspection instrument. Through these visits we help the sector to bring quality up to the required level and keep it there.

An auditor has the following qualities:

• Affinity with martial arts.
• Willingness to study the rules for martial arts events and martial arts gyms in depth.
• Experience with inspection procedures.
• Independent. Also able to avoid any appearance of a conflict of interest.
• Professional. Has integrity, is honest, handles findings carefully.
• Analytical ability. Distinguishes essentials from side issues, facts from interpretations.
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Discreet in handling confidential information.
• Autonomous. Is not thrown off course by interested parties.
• Team player. Audits are carried out in pairs, so cooperation is essential.
• Eager to learn. Enjoys exchanging experiences, reflects on feedback.
• Respect. Everyone in the sector is treated as an equal.

A fixed expense allowance applies per audit. Audits take place on an on-call basis. The start of the work is determined in consultation. You will of course be trained on the job by an experienced colleague.
