From 26 June, most coronavirus measures for sport will be scrapped. Taking part in competitions will then be permitted for everyone again. Spectators are also welcome once more at amateur competitions and training sessions. Spectators will still be given fixed seats and must respect the one-and-a-half-metre distance. Face masks, however, are no longer compulsory.

Outside training and competition, athletes must continue to take the 1.5 metres into account. Parents, who have been unable to watch their children play sport for months, may finally enjoy seeing them again. That is good news.

The fact that amateur sporting events can be organised again is a crucial milestone for combat sports. In 2019, some 200 combat sports events were held in the Netherlands, where thousands of boys and girls, women and men fought their bouts. After a long period in which almost nothing was possible, the combat sports sector is eager to start again.

Gym owners, athletes and promoters have had to be patient for a long time to reach this point. It was especially frustrating for gym owners that they were restricted in their work precisely when they wanted nothing more than to contribute to the population's resilience, and thereby to fighting the coronavirus. They deserve explicit praise for the way they tried to make the best of the difficult months behind us.

Regular opening hours apply again for canteens, and almost all restrictions for indoors and outdoors are lifted. Some conditions do remain in force, such as: stay at home if you have symptoms and get tested.

Besides the basic rules, adapted measures continue to apply for (sporting) events.
