Gym loses quality mark after misconduct around a match

The Dutch Combat Sports Authority has withdrawn the quality mark from a combat sports gym following misconduct by a trainer, athlete and their supporters at an event.

After a match, an athlete and trainer disagreed with the result of their bout. They expressed their displeasure in a disrespectful manner, intimidated officials and failed to act against misconduct by their supporters.

The VA has withdrawn the gym's quality mark for a period of three months. This means that all trainers, coaches and athletes affiliated with this gym are excluded from taking part in competitions in any capacity for that period.

Aggressive and intimidating behaviour at events towards officials, promoters or anyone else is not tolerated. In the event of a repeat offence, a gym can lose its quality mark permanently, which means trainers, coaches and athletes are excluded from competitions in the Netherlands for good.
