Statement by the Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit on ongoing doping cases

1 min read

The Nederlandse Vechtsportautoriteit (Dutch Martial Arts Authority) has of course taken note of the revelations in the television programme Nieuwsuur on Monday 28 January 2019. We have made arrangements with all three institutions involved (GLORY, ISR and the Dopingautoriteit, the Dutch anti-doping authority) that we will be kept informed of new developments.

Naturally, we cannot comment on ongoing doping cases. These are now before the disciplinary tribunal (tuchtrechter), which is where they belong.

What we can say is that, since the start of this year and in cooperation with all the organisations involved, we have formalised anti-doping policy and set it out in strict agreements. The same applies to the guidelines on disciplinary law (tuchtrecht).

We see this as a necessary step towards an even cleaner and safer martial arts sector in the Netherlands, and we are pleased to note that all parties involved have committed themselves to it.
