Kickboxing promotion Glory has handed Jamal Ben Saddik a six-month suspension for his role in the unrest that ensued after Rico Verhoeven and Nabil Khachab’s bout.

After the match in March of this year between Verhoeven and Khachab, a hectic situation developed in the ring. Jamal Ben Saddik, a member of Khachab’s coaching staff, made a kicking move toward Rico Verhoeven. An uproar ensued, whereupon Glory launched an investigation.

Glory concluded that Ben Saddik’s action risked further escalating the situation, putting participants, fans and officials at risk. The Belgian was given a six-month suspension, which took effect retroactively at the time of the offense. Now that Glory has declared a sanction, the VA sees no reason to take additional action.

According to the agreements, Glory’s sanction is automatically adopted by all other martial arts organizations in the Netherlands through the VA.
